Meek Mill Claps Back At Beanie Sigel & Has More Barbs For The Game In Hot 97 Freestyle

Image
NEW YORK, NY –  Meek Mill fanned the flames of his beefs with Beanie Sigel and The Game on his  Hot 97  freestyle today (September 30) with Funkmaster Flex. “Niggas talk about me / They see me and never say shit / Keep ’em suckas dipping and dodging like it’s  The Matrix  / Heart full of hatred / Show it on the internet / Weirdo niggas in my comments, but we ain’t into that,” he raps, explaining why he turned off his Instagram comments. Beanie Sigel blasted the MMG rapper for caring what the “peanut gallery” was saying and thought that was the reason he turned off his Instagram comments. After he posted an IG of a supposed text message from Sigel, Meek Mill took more swipes at Beans in the freestyle for questioning the younger Philly rapper’s stake in the City of Brotherly love. “They like Meek Milly won’t you spit that crack again/Fake niggas up three bring us back again/Riding down Broad Street I’m in that back again, I bully niggas I’m like Mack again, Philly,” he sp

The Lyricist Lounge Making A Grand Return At 2016 A3C Festival

Image
ATLANTA, GA –  Get ready for bars on bars on bars as this year’s A3C Festival is welcoming the Lyricist Lounge. The Hip Hop expo, which was founded in 1991 by Anthony Marshall and Danny Castro, has featured elite rappers including the Jungle Brothers, Biz Markie, Masta Ace and Scarface. It has toured nationally three times and had its own MTV show, which showcased the talents of Mos Def, Snoop Dogg, Common, Erykah Badu, Wordsmith, Slick Rick, MC Lyte, an even a pre-fame Tracee Ellis Ross, among others. We over here at HipHopDX hope you made a good run at our  2016 A3C Festival ticket giveaway because it’s going to be a good one. We caught up with Lyricist Lounge co-creator Ant Marshall who exclusively broke the news to DX about the upcoming A3C set. What’s the thought process behind that? You know according to so many people, there are no “lyricists” right now. I think what we’re doing is a little different than what everyone expects. Obviously we’re known for doing t

He was  arrested in France during another tour this past June  and  later extradited to Austria where he was charged. In August,  he was released  on bail. He faced up to 10 years in prison if found guilty. The 34-year-old maintained his innocence throughout the process. Read the full statement from attorney Theodore Simon below. We are pleased and thankful that the Court recognized the same trust and conf

Dave East Signs To Def Jam & Prepares "Kairi Chanel" Mixtape

Image
Dave East is not only a member of Nas’ Mass Appeal family, the Harlem, New York rapper has also signed to Def Jam, he announced today (September 29). He told  The Breakfast Club  that the deal is a joint venture. He says there wasn’t a label that didn’t offer him a contract and explains why he made the move with Def Jam, the home of Pusha T and Vince Staples. “It wasn’t the average me just signing to a major, like I’m actually partners with them,” he says. “Mass Appeal is still the family. Nas is still going to be able to executive produce my album. So it’s a step forward for me. I was with Mass Appeal solely for almost two years.  Nas really introduced the world to me, a lot of people to me. So that was ideal as far as me first coming in. I feel like it’s at a time now where I really need a machine, I’m not gonna say ‘need,’ but it helps. A machine really helps what I’m trying to do especially being from New York and not trying to stay in New York.” The

The Game Doesn't Want You To Forget He Thinks Meek Mill Is A Rat

Image
THE INTERNET –  The Game isn’t letting up. He’s keeping busy on Instagram, making sure his 7.1 million followers know he thinks Meek Mill is a rat, as he initially claimed on “92 Bars,” the diss track that started the whole beef. Exhibit A: A picture of two rats being hanged from a tree. One is tagged Meek Mill. The other is tagged Omelly, one of the Philly rapper’s Dreamchasers and a friend who assisted him on his “OOOUUU” remix dissing The Game. Exhibit B: Slippers made out of dead rats, which he dubs the “Air Ratatouille” as he mocks Meek’s deal with Puma. Meanwhile, Meek Mill posted the definition of “dickriding” to his own account. It’s not explicitly directed toward anyone, but some options are The Game’s manager Wack 100 who called out the MMG rapper for letting his goons jump Beanie Sigel. Or perhaps it’s directed at Beans himself, who called out Meek for not handling his business in the whole beef. And don’t forget Meek seemingly put the Philly legend on

Black communities stop calling 911 after instances of police brutality, research shows

Image
Alfred Olango was killed by police in the San Diego suburb of El Cajon on Tuesday, after his sister called 911 to try to get some help for a loved one seemingly going through a mental health episode on a busy street. “I called police to help him, not to kill him,” Olango’s sister said in the wake of the killing.  Black Americans have been saying for decades that police violence destroys trust in law enforcement and isolates communities from emergency services. Now there’s some empirical evidence to support and explain that observation. Calls to 911 dropped dramatically in black neighborhoods in Milwaukee in the months after a notorious police beating of a black man made local headlines in 2005, .

Attorney: Betty Shelby had ‘temporary loss of hearing’ during Terence Crutcher shooting

Image
The attorney for Tulsa Police Officer  Betty Shelby  said that she had a temporary loss of hearing during the confrontation with Terence Crutcher that prevented her from hearing another officer say that he had his Taser ready. Attorney Scott Wood said that Shelby had experienced “auditory exclusion,” a phenomenon that sometimes occurs in stressful situations because the person experiencing it is so focused on the critical incident. Because of this phenomenon, Wood claimed, she did not hear the sirens of the other police car, nor did she hear Officer Tyler Turnbough announce his presence and say that he had his Taser ready. “She doesn’t have any recollection of that at all,” Wood said. Wood went on to say that Shelby’s actions in shooting Crutcher were justified because she believed he had a gun. “If you think someone has a gun, you don’t get your Taser out,” he said. However, the probably cause affidavit stated that “Shelby reacted unreasonably by escalating the situati

Meek Mill Shares A Lil Uzi Vert-Dissing Text From Beanie Sigel On Instagram

Image
PHILADELPHIA, PA –  As the whole rap world tuned into Beanie Sigel’s tell-all interview with Taxstone, Meek Mill was obviously dialed in as well. The most explosive moment in the aforementioned interview was revealed when the topic of the infamous Drake Vs. Meek battle came up and the Broad Street Bully brought up a potential scenario that involved Nicki Minaj sleeping with Drake before she was rocking a Dreamchasers chain. “What’s the real reason why you was mad at Drake?” Sigel poised to the question on his episode of  Tax Season . “In my point of view, you was laying in the bed one night, you rolled over and you looked at her cuz, and you asked her, ‘You fuck that nigga?’ And she ain’t answer you in the way you wanted to. That’s what I think. I don’t know, I don’t know. But that’s my POV of it. And believe that’s the majority of everybody’s POV of it. ‘Cause who cares? Where’d that beef come out? What point you gain from coming at that man like that? None.” On inst

(Photo: Andrew Harrer/Bloomberg via Getty Images) During a key moment in Monday night’s presidential debate, moderator and “NBC Nightly News” anchor Lester Holt asked Donald Trump to clarify comments he made earlier this month in which he said that Hillary Clinton did not have “a presidential look.” “She doesn’t have the look,” Trump shot back. “She doesn’t have the stamina. … To be president of this country you need tremendous stamina.” Come November, it remains to be seen whether or not American voters think “stamina” is something that’s determined by how someone looks. But when it comes to a candidate’s appearance, it seems that everyone has strong opinions. Fox News’ Brit Hume assessed Clinton’s debate performance as “composed, smug sometimes, not necessarily attractive.”  The Atlantic

Mom spoke to son minutes before fatal crash

Image
Prompted by a "bad feeling," Cynthia Hartwick called her son, Deqouya Carroll, about 9:15 p.m. Saturday. He told her he and his friend were riding bikes and he had something to tell her when he got home.  "I love you. Bye," he added, Hartwick said. Minutes later, Deqouya was dead, along with best friend Mark Wittrock, both 14 and freshmen at Churchill High School in Livonia. The boys died in a high-speed crash on Plymouth Road, west of Haggerty, in Plymouth Township; police say the 1985 Ford Mustang Deqouya was driving struck another vehicle, spun, left the road and caught fire.  ► Related: 2 Livonia Churchill freshmen in stolen Mustang killed in crash The Mustang was later found to have been stolen ..

Video: Young Girl's Emotional Council Speech Laments 'Shame' of Fatal Charlotte Shooting

Image
Peaceful protesters crowded Charlotte's first city council meeting since the cop shooting of Keith Lamont Scott, with over 50 people speaking out against police violence. But none of them stood out Monday quite as much as a young girl. Zianna Oliphant, her hair done up in braids and tears streaking her face, brought into focus the stress police shootings place on children, as well as the pain the black community of Charlotte has suffered in the wake of Scott's death last week. “I’ve been born and raised in Charlotte. And I never felt this way until now and I can’t stand how we’re treated,” the grade-school girl said, wiping away tears. She expressed the hardship that children face when a parent dies. Scott himself, who was African-American, had seven children. “It’s a shame that we have to go to their graveyard and bury them. And we have tears. We shouldn’t have tears. We need our fathers and mothers to be by our side,” she said. Zianna, as well as the pro
