BREAKING NEWS: New Jersey train crashes into Hoboken station |VIDEO|


A New Jersey Transit train plowed into the Hoboken terminal during the Thursday morning rush hour, shortly before 9 a.m.
Officials told ABC News that there were “multiple serious” injuries resulting from the crash. Images posted on social media show that the train severely damaged the station, leaving debris and twisted columns of metal in its aftermath.

'Train failed to stop'


A NJ Transit commuter train failed to stop at the Hoboken Terminal this morning and crashed through the platform, according to ABC station WABC.

More than two dozen people were injured in the crash, including the train's engineer and many people who were passengers on the train.

Preliminary information is that the crash is "serious" with "multiple serious" injuries, officials told ABC News.
 The crash seriously damaged the terminal itself, taking out a support beam in the building and causing a partial collapse of the roof that covers the tracks, WABC reported.

Passengers will be evacuated from the terminal as the structural integrity of the roof is tested.

All NJ Transit service will be diverted to Secaucus Junction.

In addition, all PATH service at the Hoboken station is suspended.Passengers are advised to use NJ Transit Light Rail.
