Report of shots fired, northbound I-43 shut down for hours, now reopened


On Media Outlook News: MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office shut down for hours on Monday, September 25th the northbound lanes of I-43 near the Marquette Interchange due to an incident at Walnut St. Just after 5:30 p.m., those lanes were reopened -- but traffic delays persisted.
Acting Milwaukee County Sheriff Richard Schmidt indicates there was a report of shots fired on the freeway. He said in a news conference there is an active investigation. A FOX6 News crew on the scene counted at least 14 evidence markers on the pavement -- indicating possibly just as many gun shots.

The crime scene appears to stretch all the way to North Avenue -- and it appears there is a dark-colored van involved. It has been surrounded by deputies.
"People, careless disregard for life. We've got to change the culture in Milwaukee County to where that type of nonsense has to stop," said Acting Sheriff Schmidt.

Severe queues of 4.6 miles and a travel time of 19 minutes are observed southbound I-43 from Silver Spring Drive till Walnut St. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route to avoid the southbound delays.

PILSEN — An early-morning hit and run crash in Pilsen last week startled neighbors, who said they were yet to figure out who owned the car that was damaged. One fired, two suspended after armed workers photo surfaced

On Media Outlook News:  A   controversial photo showing men working   for the city brandishing a gun has cost one man his job.  Two more workers are also facing punishment.
