NYPD: Woman saved by purse when shot at point-blank range during carjacking


On Media Outlook News: A woman's purse became her unlikely hero recently, when it stopped a bullet from wounding her during a violent carjacking.

The New York Police Department says a 39-year-old victim was loading luggage into her vehicle at 4 a.m. on Wednesday morning in Brooklyn when a 52-year-old man held her at gunpoint and demanded her car keys.
The woman fought back, at which point the man fired a round at her at point-blank range. The woman was saved from the gun shot, though, when the bullet was stopped by her purse and wallet.

PILSEN — An early-morning hit and run crash in Pilsen last week startled neighbors, who said they were yet to figure out who owned the car that was damaged. Arturo Valle, who lives near 19th Street and Racine Avenue, said the crash happened at 4:35 a.m. on Jan. 26. "It woke up everyone in the building," he said. In a video of the incident caught on a security camera and posted on Facebook, a dark-colored Jeep headed south on Racine can be seen blowing through a stop sign at 19th Street. One fired, two suspended after armed workers photo surfaced

On Media Outlook News:  A   controversial photo showing men working   for the city brandishing a gun has cost one man his job.  Two more workers are also facing punishment.
