‘WHITE LIVES MATTER’ MOVEMENT DEEMED HATE GROUP

The Southern Poverty Law Center has designated the “White Lives Matter” movement as a hate group, New York Daily News reports.

In February, the group will be listed on the center’s Hate Map, a geographical list of all of the country’s known hate groups and their locations.

“I can’t speak to how many chapters will be listed, but it’s clear that the leadership of the group, the ends of the group — it’s just a flat out white supremacist group,” Heidi Bierich, Director of Intelligence Project at SPLC said. “The ideology behind it, the racist leaders, everything about it is racist.”

The amount of people who officially identify as members of the “White Lives Matter” movement is unknown, but it’s reported to be a manifestation of other white supremacist groups like the Aryan Renaissance Society and the United Aryan Front.

Earlier this week, twenty armed protesters who claimed they belonged to “White Lives Matter” gathered in front of Houston’s NAACP offices to protest Black Lives Matter.
There are currently 892 hate groups in the country, a 14% increase from 2014.
